David Schaffer is a senior partner in our corporate practice. Prior to joining the Firm, David was co-chair of the corporate practice of a leading international law firm.

Over the past thirty years, David has handled over one hundred mergers, acquisitions, securities offerings and secured financings for corporate entities, private equity firms, institutional investors and commercial banks. David handled all aspects of these transactions, which involved anti-trust, cross-border, tax, real estate and regulatory issues. David has written and spoken extensively about these topics. Leading legal publications have recognized David for his skills and expertise.

In the course of his practice, David has served as corporate secretary, general counsel and chief compliance counsel for various enterprises, participating as a member of senior management in evaluating all aspects of business and financial operations.

David has served also as an officer, member, trustee and director of several civic, charitable, educational and professional entities.

David has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East as part of his business and professional activities, as a member of governmental delegations and otherwise.

David was educated at The University of Chicago (A.B., honors, 1983) and Harvard University (J.D., 1987.) From 1987 to 1988, David served as judicial clerk to Vice Chancellor Jack B. Jacobs of the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware. David has been admitted to practice law in New York (since 1989) and in Illinois (since 1990.)
