Ms. Williams concentrates her practice in representing hospitals, physicians and healthcare providers in multi-million dollar lawsuits involving catastrophic injuries and death. She has proven herself to be an aggressive and creative advocate for her clients, handling all aspects of major medical malpractice and premises liability cases. She has also represented clients in jury trials, mediations and pre-trial conferences. Ms. Williams has been asked to speak before physician and nursing groups regarding tort reform, electronic medical records and prevention of medical malpractice. She has been a featured speaker and presenter for the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society (CHRMS) and various hospitals. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois and California.
Prior to joining Lowis & Gellen LLP, Ms. Williams was a Senior Accountant and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with Arthur Andersen LLP, where she represented public and private companies managing financial audits, performing internal control reviews and representing business clients in corporate transactions. She also assisted in preparing various SEC filings and performed due diligence reviews in acquisitions and dispositions of corporate subsidiaries.
Ms. Williams is admitted to practice law in Illinois and California. She is a member of The Chicago Bar Association, The Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society (CHRMS) (where she is an elected member of the board), the California State Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. She is also a member of the California Board of Accountancy (inactive).
Loyola University Chicago School of Law – Juris Doctorate, 2002. During law school, Ms. Williams was on the Dean’s List for four semesters, a recipient of three CALI awards, served as an Assistant Editor of The Annals of Health Law Review, a member of the Moot Court Health Law Team, a Student Director of the Tax Clinic and a Volunteer at the Cook County Juvenile Jail. Ms. Williams also served as a law clerk in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Bureau of Civil Actions, Medical Litigation, where she assisted in the defense of medical malpractice lawsuits involving hospitals, doctors and nurses in alleged negligence and wrongful death actions.
