Gerald Haberkorn is the Managing Senior Partner responsible for the firm’s corporate and litigation practices. He has tried cases throughout the United States. He was selected as a Federal Trial Bar Instructor for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and appointed to its prestigious Local Rules Committee, recognizing the range of his federal litigation practice experience. He has also been appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve on the Judicial Performance Evaluation Committee.
Mr. Haberkorn is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. His trial practice includes significant D&O litigation matters such as breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and violations of state corporation and limited liability company laws. In addition, over the past 20 years, Mr. Haberkorn has handled a significant number of merger and acquisition related matters including alleged breach of representation and warranties claims, as well as fraud allegations. He has published a wide variety of articles both in the U.S. and the U.K.
Since 2007, Mr. Haberkorn has consistently been recognized by his peers as one of the Illinois Bar’s “Leading lawyers” in two areas of litigation, (his profile is available online www.leadinglawyers.com), and has been selected as one of “Illinois’ Super Lawyer” (www.superlawyers.com). He was selected as a finalist in Fast Company Magazine’s 2005 “Fast 50”, as one of the U.S. “high impact legal leaders.” The recognition was based on his unique dedication to counseling and representing commercial clients in both transactions and dispute resolution. He was selected as the first and only U.S. attorney to participate in the U.K. publication Acquisition Finance. British finance experts and Mr. Haberkorn respond monthly to readers’ inquiries regarding the commercial concerns and legal issues of international transactions. He has served on the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Chamber’s Middle Market Forum Advisory Subcommittee, as well as on the Boards of Directors of five U.S. subsidies of Ontario-based Energy Savings Income Fund, an open-ended limited purpose trust to hold securities and to distribute the income of its wholly owned subsidiaries and affiliates.
