Network Support Professional (Full time)

Lowis & Gellen LLP, Chicago is seeking a network support professional with plenty of experience with Exchange. The ideal candidate should also be familiar with Active Directory and typical industry network standards. (DNS, DHCP, IP subnets, etc.)


  • Assist in planning and implementing Exchange Upgrades
  • Meticulous record keeping
  • Preparation for and complete upgrade of other services running on these servers
  • Trouble-shooting and resolving hardware/software issues
  • Managing server backup before and after upgrades and monitoring daily backups
  • Assisting with other network service and support tasks as needed
  • Interacting with peers and clients in a professional manner, dressed in traditional business attire.
  • Supports the IT Manager in the completion of technology projects and responsibilities, and provides end-user support to staff and clients.
  • Provides desktop support.
  • Provides computer and peripheral maintenance and repairs.
  • Provides software and hardware installations, updates and trouble-shooting.
  • Maintains equipment inventory.
  • Manages virus defense and removal.
  • Maintains user ID’s and grants/removes access to business applications as directed.  Performs data backups/restorations and monitors performance of computer systems.
  • Adheres to all Firm policies including those regarding software distribution and license compliance.
  • Remains committed to increasing personal skill set relative to the Firm’s business applications, operating systems and environments. Keeps current on trends in the computer industry and shares observations and suggestions as appropriate.
  • Accesses private directories and data not directly related to the employee’s department or position function only on a “need to know” basis and maintains in strict confidence all information to which employee may be exposed in the course of support functions. Understands that accessing the electronic mail of other employees (active and/or terminated) will be done only with the express permission of the subject employee, the Firm’s partners, Controller, Office Administrator, or Human Resources Manager.

This is a full time position.  Our office is open from 8 am to 5:30 pm, with a minimum of 35 hours per workweek.  Extra time and overtime may be available.

A friendly, up-beat, professional, people-oriented personality is a must. We are currently seeking someone who has knowledge earned through experience. You will be expected to complete projects in an organized and logical way, with precision and attention to detail, without leaving loose ends.

While most of our work is done during business hours, there are occasions when project work or server maintenance must be done after-hours and crisis situations that require immediate attention can occur at any time.

Law Clerk (Part time)

A Law Clerk Supports attorneys by assembling and organizing information for legal documents; researching law; assembling case materials; writing reports and memoranda.


  • Prepares legal drafts by assembling and organizing information for legal forms and documents, including complaints, declarations, discovery requests, responses, and other pleadings.
  • Researches law by studying laws, statutes, constitutions, regulations, court opinions, including precedents and reasoning, and trends using standard print texts and computers; preparing legal memoranda.
  • Assembles case materials by collecting, organizing, and summarizing information, documents, reports, and evidence.
  • Prepares for trial by preparing trial briefs, exhibits, subpoenas, evidence, and motions.
  • May Maintain calendar by entering and updating requirements, court dates, and meetings.
  • Protects law firm’s reputation by keeping client information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing educational opportunities; reading legal publications; maintaining personal networks.
  • Enhances firm’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Medical Malpractice/Healthcare Paralegal (Full time)

The Paralegal researches law, investigates facts and prepares documents to assist onsite attorneys by performing a variety of support duties.


  • Supports medium-sized Medical Malpractice Litigation law firm with high volume and document intensive caseload.
  • Understands Illinois court rules, guidelines and procedures, both standard and electronic.
  • Upon request, prepares legal documents such as subpoenas, correspondence, etc.
  • Performs clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, scanning and coding, and composing and typing correspondence.
  • Organizes and prepares medical records for attorney review and production.
  • Upon request, supports and assists with trial and witness preparation.
  • Organizes and maintains client files.
  • Familiar with software including Microsoft Office, Adobe, Billing, etc.
  • Researches and understands legal sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles and legal codes.
  • Prepares drafts of legal documents for attorney review such as responses, complaints, and discovery.
  • Manages deposition scheduling for subpoenaed witnesses.
  • Able to research, interact with, and retain experts.
  • Drafts authorization or documentation as needed for obtaining medical records.
  • Gathers Exhibits for Trial but with supervision.
  • Other tasks as assigned by attorneys or coordinators depending on need and consistent with expectations at this skill level.


  • Investigates facts of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly.
  • Demonstrates expertise with software including Microsoft Office, Adobe, Billing, etc.
  • Requires minimal supervision.
  • Able to identify key issues when preparing attorney deposition and meeting materials.
  • Requires some direction but has understanding of case needs from beginning through trial.
  • Drafts medical case summaries or abstracts when required.
  • Researches medical conditions and medical literature.
  • Demonstrates excellent proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with FOIA and other methods of obtaining government or official records.
  • Gathers exhibits for trial with little supervision.
  • Able to prepare pleadings and discovery requiring minimal attorney revision.
  • Prepares case, files, scheduling, experts and witnesses for trial with little supervision.
  • Demonstrates ability to anticipate and identify attorney and case needs.
  • Accepts problem and urgent situations and handles them accordingly without requiring substantial attorney attention.

This is a full-time position. Typical workweek is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 7 paid hours per day.  Extra time and overtime may be available.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


  • Associates degree or higher, or 2-5 years legal experience and/or training
  • Paralegal certificate of completion preferred
