FOCUS
Mr. Code became a partner at Lowis & Gellen in January of
1997. His practice focus areas are medical malpractice defense,
personal injury defense, product liability, and premises liability.
Since 1989, he has represented the interests of Chicago area hospitals
and physicians in both State and Federal Courts in cases involving not
only allegations of medical malpractice, but also general liability and
medical products liability matters.
He has tried medical malpractice cases in state court on
behalf of both hospitals and physicians. He is licensed in
the United States District Court of both the Central and Northern
Districts of Illinois.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
At various continuing educational seminars, Mr. Code has lectured on medical
malpractice issues to ensure a continual understanding of the legal issues faced by
hospitals and physician groups. He also co-authored a supplement chapter in Health Care Law IICLE:
Theories of Liability and Malpractice Insurance for Health Care Institutions.
Mr. Code is a member of the Chicago Hospital Risk Pooling
Program, Perinatal, Labor and Delivery, and Surgical Committees,
and has participated in developing policies and procedures
for members of various health care institutions in the Chicagoland
area.
EDUCATION
Mr. Code received a B.A. from Augustana College, Rock Island,
Illinois, in Political Science in 1985 and a J.D. from Willamette
University, College of Law, Salem, Oregon, in 1989. Mr. Code
also holds a Master of Management from Willamette University's
Graduate School of Management.
